Ignition and relighting in supersonic flows is an important challenge for the design of hypersonic propulsion systems. Supersonic compressible interest exhibit much larger local variations velocity, shear, thermodynamic state than their incompressible counterparts. Thus, it to study relationship between ignition kernel evolution, initial spark location, kernel’s subsequent flow history. We leverage flexibility a laser plasma system systematically explore large set locations on symmetry plane ethylene jet crossflow setup. CH* measurements are used visualize chemically active regions results correlated with field properties derived from Mie-scattering data non-reacting field. Our describes detail scrutinizes effect turbulent mixing dilatation kernels. Finally, yield general guidelines favorable engineering reactive flows.
